Are you eligible for a Collage Scholarship from the Hill & Valley Garden Club?
Must be a resident of Virginia who are, or intending to major in any garden-related subject in an accredited college or university.
Must be attending school full-time:
Undergraduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 graded hours of classes
Graduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of 9 graded hours of classes
Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)
Must be majoring in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Botany, Biology, Forestry, Agronomy, Ecology, Environmental Science, and other allied subjects.
Judging is based on need, scholastic record, character, initiative and general attitude, and, selection of scholarship recipients is determined by the Hill & Valley Garden Club Committee.
2023 Scholarship Recipient Meghan Sours
Meghan is a graduate of Luray High School and received an advanced diploma which includes dual enrolment in Biology and English from Laurel Ridge Community College as well as honors studies in Chemistry, Physics and Anatomy. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.62. She has been accepted at, and will attend, Bridgewater College where she intends to major in Biology. She then hopes to transfer to Virginia Tech to study to become a veterinarian.
Meghan has been an active member of FFA and 4-H throughout high school, serving in leadership roles and performing much volunteer service for each organization. She has also worked part time in a local veterinarian practice. Meghan is the first person in her family to attend college.
The $500 scholarship was presented to Meghan at the Luray High School Award night on May 31 by Hill and Valley GC Treasurer Julie Edmonds.
2025 Scholarship Recipient Elliott Montana
Meet Elliott Montana. A fine young man with vet school aspirations
The Hill & Valley Garden Club recently completed another successful year awarding a $500 scholarship to a Page County High School graduating senior. The Page County HS recipient was Elliott Montana, who will be pursuing a career in Vet School.
